# What is DPF, EGR and DTC Off?
DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems used for emission control in modern diesel vehicles can cause problems in terms of performance and maintenance costs in some cases.
## DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)
### Function
- Filters solid particles in exhaust gases
- Reduces environmental emissions
- Mandatory in Euro 5 and later vehicles
### DPF Problems
- Clogging and regeneration issues
- High maintenance costs
- Performance loss
## EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
### Function
- Reduces NOx emissions
- Lowers combustion temperature
- Affects engine efficiency
### Common Issues
- Carbon buildup
- Valve failures
- Intake manifold clogging
## DTC Off (Error Code Disabling)
This is the process of silencing related error codes in the engine control unit when certain systems are disabled.
## Important Warning
These procedures are subject to legal regulations and are only suitable for racing vehicles or off-road use. These modifications may be prohibited on road-legal vehicles.
